Lavender Blues

I just got my M.A. in literature; now, I search for jobs and run, write, and draw stuff in what what spare time I have.

I really like Edna St. Vincent Millay, Bahktin, and Superjail. My childhood largely consisted of Sailor Moon and Harry Potter (Pottermore says I'm a Slytherin). I am also a huge Welcome to Night Vale fan. If your screen turns cyan and starts screeching at you while viewing my blog, rest assured that that's normal, and your hearing will return to normal in a few months, which is also when the greenish hair on your knees will start to fall out. Like I said, no problem.

Also, if you like fantasy, check out a project of mine under the We Four Elements tag or at we-four-elements here on Tumblr.

Floral anatomy from artist Camila Carlow’s project Eye Heart Spleen

Carlow on her project:

The most fascinating and intricate of biological structures, yet we rarely pay heed to the organs inside our body. Regardless of whether we fill ourselves with toxins or nourishing food, whether we exercise or not - our organs sustain us, working away effortlessly and unnoticed.

In a similar way, plants flourishing in the urban environment are a testament to nature’s indifference to our goings on. They grow out of the sides of buildings, in brick walls and between the cracks in concrete, despite of the traffic and pollution.

Click on the images to see which organs are represented.

Friendly reminder that this was all drawn by hand. And it is fabulous.

- Since people are not sure, this manga is called Otoyomegatari, or A Bride’s Story and it is by Kaoru Mori. It is a Seinen historical work, that is stunningly drawn, and beautifully researched. This same author also drew and wrote Victorian Romance Emma, another amazing, historic series and my personal favorite of her works.

All works by this author are great to read.
